About IPGC
Connecting geoscience, innovation and society
The International Professional Geology Conference (IPGC) is a global meeting point for the geoscience community.
The conference brings together geologists, geophysicists, researchers, academics, industry professionals, policymakers, students and other stakeholders working across the Earth sciences.
Through scientific presentations, professional sessions, workshops, networking and exhibitions, IPGC provides a platform to exchange knowledge, showcase innovation and develop new international collaborations.
The 6th edition will focus on the role of geoscience in addressing major global challenges, including sustainable resource management, energy transition, water security, environmental change, natural hazards and societal resilience.
IPGC through the years
- 1st IPGC: Alicante, Spain in 2000
- 2nd IPGC: London, England in 2004
- 3rd IPGC: Flagstaff, USA in 2008
- 4th IPGC: Vancouver, Canada in 2012
- 5th IPGC: Zaragoza, Spain in 2025
- 6th IPGC: Hammamet, Tunisia in 2027
The conference has evolved into an international platform connecting the geoscience profession across borders and disciplines.
Five priorities for IPGC 2027
Connecting the global geoscience community
Create opportunities for geoscientists, researchers, industry professionals, policymakers and students to meet, exchange experience and establish new partnerships.
Advancing knowledge and innovation
Showcase scientific developments, emerging technologies and innovative approaches across the Earth sciences.
Supporting sustainable resource and energy management
Explore how geoscience can contribute to responsible resource development, energy transition, water security and environmental sustainability.
Building societal resilience
Examine the role of Earth sciences in understanding and managing natural hazards, climate-related challenges and other risks facing society.
Strengthening the geoscience profession
Promote professional development, education, skills, mobility and the contribution of geoscientists to society.
